re-introducing ourselves.

We havn't been on much recently , we moved house in the summer and had the usual internet issues etc and have been busy with the new house. So i have decided to start a re-introduce yourself thread.

We are Adam , Amanda, William (7) Alys (4) and Bertie the dog.

We bought and fell in love with our Campervan early in 2011 after seeing 'one man and his campervan' on tv . We had no previous experience of aircooled vw or any classic vehicle for that fact. We found ours advertised on 'preloved ' after it had failed to make its reserve on Ebay.
Joycee is a '72 Devon, she has just turned 40 years old and although she was restored back in 2006 , is holding up pretty well. She has the original interior although we have replaced the curtains.



We use the bus whenever we can, she is taxed all year round and we camp as much as work will allow during the year. This summer we are planning a trip to south west France aswell as the usual , Spring camp, and several shows and events.



As with most buses we have had ups and downs. So far we have only been on the big yellow taxi once, but we have had a few close calls . Carb problems were a bit of an ongoing saga for a while, mainly due to chinese new carbs, and the dynamo needed swapping for an alternator. Nothing too costly or major though. MOT is due in Feb though :-
The best thing we have bought for our bus has to be the propex heater, it means we can camp all year round. the worst thing was one of them toasters that you put on the gas ring. all it did was smoke and dry the bread,



We have met some great people through owning the bus. Lots of people on here , strangers with only vans in common have become close friends , and others who we meet at camps and shows and share some great times with.

We are now hooked on classic dubs and our daily drives are now a '68 rat beetle called Gertie, and a pretty '64 red ragtop beetle called ruby.





We enjoy being the 'hippy' family down at school, and the love to see the number of smiles we get as we drive round in our old bangers .



we hope to meet lots of you at shows and camps this year, its going to be a long hot summer
