The best way to get rid of rats is not to vote for them at elections.
Parliament is overrun with them and it's all our fault.

  2. Does anyone think that snap traps are more humane/effective than traps that catch them live?

  3. I caught a mouse in one once. He had a very surprised look on his face

  5. Once you've had a serious infestation, all thoughts of humanity go out of the window, believe me.

The big spring traps - like big mouse traps - work fine. They kill them instantly.

My pal has just had a bit of a problem with a few of them. Apparently they sneered at his traps and managed to get the ham or the cheese and even the peanut butter off without breaking into a sweat. So after he`d fed and watered them for a week or so he got chatting to some pest control people doing a bit of work for the council on a ```must sort right now``` type of mission. They said these particular sticky pads work really well as in they will not get away. Put close to or on a walkway, little bit of peanut butter in the middle, they sniff at it and then they put a foot on it and it sticks fast, then they try and use another foot to give them leveredge and that`s it. They might be illegal in some counties though. I`d have to be checking them every hour as I`d want to sort them out as quickly as is humanly possible because it ain`t a nice thought. As said above, once you are on the losing streak with rats, your conscience may change a tad.

  9. We have the native white tailed rats hanging around again. They don't bother us too much....but they tend to live in engine bays of our cars.We find their food scraps and seed pods. They were kept in check by the resident python which took up residence in our garden rubbish trailer unbeknown to us.We last saw it slithering off to its new home at the local dump.Biggest battle lately is with the geckoes .....they crap everywhere.
I asked a mate recently about advice on the white tailed rats and he told me that a small school he was at had them in the sports shed.He and the ground man put two cats in the shed on a Friday arvo and opened up on Monday morning. He said that there were only barely recognisable carsasses left!!

We had a couple of rats settled into a raised flower bed beside our pond, about six feet from the back door.
Its a pity they were rats not squirrels, they were quite fun to watch as they worked out how to nick food from the bird feeder.

We got rid of them by mostly accident - we dug up their entire nest while digging the flower bed and we stopped the bird feeding.

Now we have a stripey death merchant and there are no more rats.

  15. Good. Get shot of them, or you'll regret it :(

  16. It worked well, put it down in the small trays once its all gone, top it up until no more is taken and that should be done then.

  18. Make sure the bait is secure from owt else. Heavy slate leant up against a wall for instance and poke a few sticks in the openings to so Fido and Tiddles cant get to it. Best do it with the traps too.. Good luck.
