Why are we all so sensitive these days ? In my day i was taught to be polite, please thank you etc , we were also brought up to tell the truth not to purposely hurt people but tell the truth in other words be frank . These days it is difficult to be frank without upsetting someone : it can be anyone and everyone has their rights protected from politicians to thieves and con men , you can't call a politician a lying self perpetuating sod without fear of repercussions even if he is , you can't say a mugger who has just beat someone up for their purse is a lowlife or should be treated to a bit of his own medicine without fear of being branded a vigilante or prosecuted yourself . Why not , why can't you dislike something or some action without considering the perpertrator's feelings or rights , are we so wrapped up in political correctness and fear of litigation that we have to keep schtum , why can't we just say what is wrong with a certain politician if it is the truth - we can say it in private but woe betide anyone who says it in some sort of official form - ie in newspapers or even on a forum . i know some people have extreme views and take the idea of free speach to a low level but most of us don't and we should be allowed some leeway , i for one hate the European freedom of movement law that allows people from places like Romania to come to our country and partake in all the benefits we offer , i do not agree with the bloke ( who happened to be Asian ) who showed me the seven yes seven different uk driving licences he held and used in different dhss offices across the country whilst working a night shift on a loading bay in Wolverhampton , i hate it even more because i know the other ten people on the shift were doing the same and hate the fact i said nothing as i was in the full knowledge nothing would be done . i can't even call the lazy lead swinging blokes at work " lazy lead swinging blokes " for fear of being accused of abuse or worse " bullying " what a state we are in ! The belief we have free speech in this country is becoming a dream rather than reality , we can't march or protest , we can't strike without fear of losing our jobs and we can't take our complaints anywhere because they are all scared of upsetting powers that be , well you can but it is so long winded you might as well restore a camper and enjoy life rather than going through the process - i'm joking about restoring a camper and enjoying life of course - VW , RESTORE and ENJOY are probably words that will never be used in the same sentence in real life . But you do get what i am on about i think , we no are no longer allowed to be frank without upsetting some group or transgress some piece of obscure legislation - i want to call a spade a spade or bunch of freeloading criminals a " bunch of freeloading criminals !" , i want to call the family across the road on the dole who have better holidays than me a " scrounging bunch of wasters " but i can't without fear of litigation prosecution because they are of some foreign descent and i would be a racist - which i am not "some of my best friends are gay " ( joke ) i just see lots of inbalances in our way of life that could do with a good dose of frank speaking , we won't get it from the snivellng vote seeking smarms unless you go all right wing - which is totally wrong btw , but come on lets get real here - we are being ground down into pc dummys that are scared to even question the way we are being moulded . I don't want to go around berating everything and everyone btw i just like things to be in balance . The rant is not over - i have just touched on the tip of the iceberg Dsclaimer i hope i haven't upset anyone race, crede , sexual or political persuasion in this post it is merely a meandering rant because i just saw a massive piece of local injustice that has wound me up and it involved a perfectly normal and nice bloke being taken to task over calling a spade a spade - or rather rollocking and getting very angry at some people who rented and sublet his property and done him out of thousands of pounds just because he was trusting and thought everyone was like him .
Nobody has the right not to be offended - unfortunately many people think otherwise and demand their views are respected and not criticised and that has been allowed to perpetuate.
I don't think you offend anyone, PT. Pretty mild stuff on TLB, compared with the usual vitriol on VZi. Go for it!
i am probably a little too polite to say how i truly feel snotty - even on VZ1 and to be honest i don't always think the way i have written that - as i say a massive piece of local injustice brought it on
We have the freedom do we not ( depends on what you want to say ! ) some places of work are so far up there rear ends its a wonder you can say good morning to anyone in case they are having a bad one , There is alot of stuff i would like to say but i would turn in to Mr angry
