" Quite Nice "

There is a dispute in our household as to the meaning of this phrase.
I consider it grudging approval, similar to " it's ok ", whereas the wife considers it a really positive compliment.
Am I being too sensitive?

 

Quite nice = fine, adequate, perfectly acceptable, not amazing, average.

 

I’m guessing you said to your wife how was our sex?

she said quite nice.

 

I'd be chuffed with "quite nice" rather than "yawn"

 

I normally get “was it you I had sex with?”

 

I’m with you on this one. I think the wife is quite wrong.

I asked my daughter who said that my ex had asked her new husband if he liked her outfit, he said quite nice and she refused to go out with him that evening .

 

Quite nice means it's ok but could be better
