  1. how much should i be using?
using a compressor and waxoyl gun with 1 liter cans.
used just under a litre on 2 sliders rear hatch and engine lid too much or too little?
    cheers

  2. Use as much as is needed - there's no rule, as long as everything's covered.

  3. dont foget to check the drain holes are clear other wise you will trap water in your panels.

just use a little bit of wire to unblock any excess waxoyl from the holes.

.......and like snotty said use as much as you need

  4. ok cool got 5 more liters to go then!
ill go round everything once and if i have some left ill do places again.
    cheers

  5. yup ill keep an eye on any drain holes so there not blocked
    cheers

  6. What waxoil are you using?
Went to a local car restorers when i did mine and baught some stuff they use in the trade. Much better than the Hamerite and Finnegans stuff.
Good call on getting it done though, keeps the moisture away from the bits you cant see 8)

Thin it down with white spirit. In box sections it too thick out of the tin ad won't get into the crevasses. I mixed mine 70/30 when I did the 504. 8 years later and no return of rust :)

Also use the black stuff. A Talbot mad friend of mine reports that the clear stuff isn't as good as the black.

  8. i used 5 litres from the back axle back last year after a rear end resto

just fill up every box section you can find with as much as you can pump in there

  9. im using the clear hammerite waxoyl in 1 liter tins.
i put the tin in a bowl of hot water for about half an hour to make it flow a bit better.
seemed ok but this is the first time iv done it so all hints and tips are greatfully recieved.

I have a pressure pot type sprayer and a 3-4 ft hose and it doesn't need thinning or heating. The gun virtually vapourises it - it comes out every crevice crack and drain hole like smoke. I think it's probably getting everywhere it should.

Putting best part of a litre in a sliding door sounds rather too much to me. I hope it doesn't dribble out the bottom when you leave it in the sun.:)

Ha-ha - sorry read it wrong - I thought you said 2 litres and did some maths...

Sounds better, I was wondering where it had all gone!
