Quick paint question

I've got a small piece of a aluminum as a fix for the butchered hole in my dash radio hole. Can I etch it, then paint with rattle can or will I have to prep the Ali with a specialist primer?

I normally just etch alu and its always worked out fine for me

Etch is perfect for alloy and galvanised steel aswell as normal bare steel
