Queues at Asda stores as petrol prices slashed

  1. So more news from my local rag - this time it is about Petrol Prices SLASHED!!!

Now ... for me 3p per ltr is not a slash in price - it is a minor reduction. And that is what Asda have done down here.

So hundreds of people have flocked there to fill up their tanks.

Now - I read this and thought ' I hate queuing at the best of times ' so just because there is a minor reduction in price - I would not bother...afterall to fill up the tank on Pinky - I would only be saving about £2.

To me £2 is not worth the drive there and also having to queue.....so my question is

    - would you queue and wait because fuel is 3p cheaper
    &
    - what would you describe as a petrol price slash .... for me it would be nearer the £1 mark!

  2. A price slash has to be around 20-25% surely. For me it would depend on the amount off. If it was somewhere I was going anyway I probably wouldn't mind a bit of a queue but I wouldn't go out of my way to save 3p a litre. I'd probably spend any savings getting there! However, for 25p off or something more tangible, yup I probably would.

  3. I hate queues at the best of times, I regularly go the Texaco rather than Morrisons I realise over a year I'm probably a good £20 pounds out of pocket  but strangely enough we still manage to have food in the trof at chataux pig....

As for slashed I reckon 25p would qualify

  4. I wouldn't, but my sister in law would.

In fact I regularly think she actually wastes more money than saves in her quest to constantly get "cheaper". They shop at 4 different supermarkets for their monthly shop to get the "best" deal across the range of products. Now if they were next to each other I could understand it, but they're not - o that's 4 lots of petrol to 4 different places...and we're taking about tiny differences in pence per product, I just can't see how it stacks up.

And "slash" is NOT 3p. That's a minor abrasion. Slash would have to be 50% for me.

So for a 50l fill up you save £1.50 or a 1/2 pint of beer

That means i can have a beer as i wait in the que.

I put a value on my time - quite a high one - so if I had to sit for 15 minutes I'd need to save a lot more than £2

i paid 131.9 at tesco cannock the other day and 133.9 in tesco in newtown wales, to be honest you're right some people waste more money driving to a cheap place, i try to plan going past a place if i need it instead of making a trip "just" for fuel.

  14. It'd need to be a hell of a lot more than 3p to make me take any kind of detour. Slashed to me suggests 20p a litre or more.

I cannot understand these people who burn litres of fuel driving between stores to save 2p on a tin of beans. Not only is it a waste of fuel and therefore money, but surely you've better things to do with your life than trawl round supermarkets?

  15. Well I paid 129.something today in morrisons just as I got there I tnink they reduced the prices the man was going around cehcking the pumps.
Talk about slashing I'm off for one. ^-^

  16. The asda near me has dropped to 129.7 but it was at 130 wooo big price drop! :D

  17. I filled my polo daily driver at asda the other day, many but only as I was driving past to take the kids to football.
