    Hi
Well..for the last few weeks I have noticed something strange (to me anyway) going on with my heating..especially in the morning when I’m up the heating goes on and off pretty much every 5 minutes..the radiators getting just slightly warm but not to the point you feel warm but definitely the boilers on and you can hear the noise..but the strange thing about it is that on my thermostats screen there’s no indication of it happening..the temperature is set at 18c and normally when it drops down it shows the flame..but no, the theps 18c solid no flame on the screen..anyone knows what is going on? ..pretty sure the gas is burning during that cycle but no benefit from it at all..must add we don’t have a smart meter..Im actually thinking about switching the boiler off completely and only putting it on when needed..yes I know it’s pain and takes ages to warm up the water but still..there’s something I don’t understand...

  2. Yeah - our combi boiler ( 5years old) often seems to have a life of its own - just switches on when the timer says no - I think it is something in its programme that keeps its heat up ready for when needed - or maybe it's just something that the gas companies put in to make you use more gas.

  3. Is it just the pre heat?

..hmm interesting I did reed that they work best when the heat exchangers are kept warm so we have instant hot water In taps but we actually don’t..still need to wait a moment..so I really don’t need this ‘feature’..if it does it a few times at night out of our control then wondering how much we overpay actually for gas we didn’t use?..hmm boiler off then

  5. Not sure it’s supposed to be instant, because the pipes from boiler to tap won’t get heated. But they say it comes through quicker. We have a eco switch on ours, which disables the pre heat. I think

  6. It would be helpful if you stated what boiler and stat you have to give us a start :)
