PROTEC COVER. £150. Protect your van over the winter!

  1. Now we have a garage, we no longer need our Protec cover.

It's a top quality waterproof and breathable cover that was used maybe 5 times. It's a grey colour and comes with it's own bag and straps that fasten under the camper so it cannot blow off.

It does not scrape or scuff the paintwork as the inside has a kind of soft fleecy backing.

They sell for £389 new. This is obviously not new, so we are looking for £150 plus postage.

It is quite heavy so I will have to take it to the post office to check the postal cost.

    We are based in Liverpool.

Here's some info from the Protec website:

    THE PROTEC MATERIAL
The most important breakthrough for caravan covers was the development of the Protex003 material which
is spun bond 3-ply water proof and breathable. Previously other companies used plastics which caused a great deal of damage, scratching the van and causing condensation and mould due to the material’s toughness and lack of breathability.
There are now many similar materials on the market. However, some competing manu[glow=red,2,300][glow=red,2,300][glow=red,2,300][glow=red,2,300][glow=red,2,300]FACT[/glow][/glow][/glow][/glow][/glow]urers still use materials which are known to scratch paintwork and windows.
Pro-Tec Caravan Covers use Protex003, a 3-ply material which is developed and manu[glow=red,2,300][glow=red,2,300][glow=red,2,300][glow=red,2,300][glow=red,2,300]FACT[/glow][/glow][/glow][/glow]
[/glow]ured here in the UK specifically for the caravan cover market. The outer layer is available in two colours, green for rural storage or grey for urban surroundings. The external layer is UV protected and comes with a 3-year warranty. The inside membrane is non-abrasive so as to guarantee that the cover will not scratch your van

The material’s innovative design ensures that it is waterproof but highly breathable. Recent lab reports showed Protec Caravan Cover material Protex003 to be the most breathable caravan cover material on the market.

Will the Protec cover cause condensation?
Unlike many lesser quality products the fabric used in Pro-Tec's covers has a patented breathable middle layer. Tests have shown that this is more breathable than other fabrics available. Due to this, any moisture trapped under the cover, or natural moisture within the air, is able to breathe out through the fabric and won't be trapped, removing the risk of condensation, mould or mildew.

    Will it scratch my van?
As long as the van is clean when the cover is fitted, the soft inner lining will ensure no scratches or damage are caused to any area of your van.

Do I have to wait until the van is dry or a dry day to fit the cover?

No, due to the patented breathability of Pro-Tec's fabric, any moisture left on the van prior to fitting a cover, will breathe out naturally.

How long can I leave my cover on for?

Pro-Tec's covers are designed to be an all-year round cover. With its UV stability, you are able to keep the cover on throughout the summer, as well as winter should you wish to. We recently heard from a customer at a show who had told us how due to ill health he had left his cover on constantly for 3 years and upon returning to his caravan, found it to be in the same pristine state as when he had stored it originally.

    Is the cover 100% waterproof?

Pro-Tec's fabric is waterproof up to 1metre of water, meaning 1 metre depth of water can sit on top of the fabric before any moisture will seep through. This provides an extremely strong protection from water ingress, but still allows the cover to have its breathability, giving you the peace of mind that your caravan is not going to sweat under the cover. It is impossible for a cover to be both 100% waterproof and breathable. The only fabrics that are 100% waterproof are such things as plastics and vinyls, and you can guarantee that if you hold these to your mouth you are not going to get a single breath through it. Beware companies with this claim.

  2. Hi,

What van have you had it fitted on? Pop top? Spare wheel on the front? Other covers I have seen are quite a snug fit!

    cheers

    Will

  3. Sorry I forgot to say ::) It fitted easily on a Westfalia, no wheel on the front.

It also has a velcro opening over the sliding door (left side, as it's a right hand drive camper) so you can get in and out without taking the cover off.
