Just read the following question in the Motoring section of one of the weekend papers: "Last November I delivered my Volkswagen 1303 to a specialist for restoration. By the end of May, the bodywork was complete and I paid £21,600. Since then, work on routine mechanical jobs has slowed. I am told by the company this is because classic VWs need much more work to get through an MoT. Having paid out the equivalent price of a new car, I feel the job should be finished promptly." NR, Bristol. Think I would be a little unhappy if I had paid that much for a resto, and still not got the car back after nearly a year! Seems like a lot to pay for even a top-notch job, or is this par for the course?
That's a lot for a small vehicle like a beetle, but I suppose it depends on how rusty it was (hopefully was, not still is + filler and paint).
You could of bought all the parts new and had it spotwelded together and shipped over from the gold platers for that
I dont know i think it would be quite easy to spend that kind on money especially if it was a basket case and the garage was charging £70hr or so witch is not unheard off. And yes a yearly service of a old vw is a lot more than a modern car
That's got to be a fake. Unless his first born was conceived in the back seat, nobody spends that much on an 03. Although, only an 03 would be rusty enough to need 20 grands worth of welding.......
