Practical joke not quite soundly last night.

  1. we traveled down from Derby to Devon last night to meet up with friends need Woolacombe. nice fish and chips plus beer on arrival. lovely evening all round. we head back to the camper thinking "let's stick the propex on as it's chuffing cold and have a nice cup of tea before bed" only to discover that we were out of gas in our underslung Westy LPG tank. puzzling as we only filled it recently. I then discovered some comedy genius had at some point opened the gas release valve so the tank is completely drained.

did we laugh! (actually we didn't)

Italy only cost £3 to refill it but I have just spent ages trying to track down an autogasnstatio in North Devon and am trying to boil a kettle on a gas BBQ as we speak

    what fun.

  2. oops, spell checker got me again

  3. Dam that's annoying, for some reason, my gas tank only lasted a few weeks this year normally it lasts all season.

  4. I'm wanting to get one of these underslung tanks - is there any way of being able to lock the valve maybe?

  5. there isn't really a way to lock the valve. TBH you need to know what you are doing to find the valve as they aren't exactly obvious.

I do now know that my tank takes 9.4 litres of LPG from empty and that cost me £7, bit of a bargain! I am still a fan of these tanks, really practical and take no space in the bus.

lovely and toasty warm now as I sip my cup of tea.

  7. maybe so. I will have a look into it when I get home. thing is I could go to loads of trouble and the chances of some fun filled soul doing it again are probably pretty small. next time I will check I have gas left before I travel. bear in mind this is only the third time i have filled the gas in two years of having my bus and both previous times I only got £2 worth in so I think I got into the habit of not checking.

gas usage is pretty low given we have used the bus loads this year though the propex hasn't been spanked too much up until tonight as we haven't needed to and it does drain the leisure battery ( we are on a hook up here in Devon)
