Yes, I expect they are very similar if not identical. You can add a sensor to the speedo cable and a ... thing to make to speed sensitive, it's much better because at speed you do want the wheels to self centre, it's more relaxing for one thing.
Thanks for the reply’s you lot much appreciated,I guess you pay for what you get in this world,I’ve spent lots of money on my panel I should just take some time to save for the real deal
You really dont need power steering at speed: I was driving a Hyundai i35 (company hire car) once at about 90mph between speed cameras in northern France and it was twitchy because the power steering cut in on a very slight left or right turn of the wheel. You could feel the dead-band of the steering at centre as a stiffness that suddenly 'gave' as the steering realised you had moved the wheel. Not pleasant. My Peugeot is much better, you never feel the power steering cut in and out as you should expect. . I think this is a case of getting what you pay for. Litesteer is not exactly expensive.
Yep mine has a speed sensor. If anything my only complaint is that it’s too light. Having said that I spoke to Neil and he said he’d take it in and adjust it for me but I soon got used to it. I used to worry that it would exert more wear on the box, but I never manoeuvre without the wheels turning so I do the same movement but it’s now power assisted. It does make parking a lot easier. At ‘speed’ it’s un-noticeable. Oh and I remember those early ‘80s Granadas, I quite liked them! They were quite ‘grunty’ compared to other run of the mill stuff around at the time.
Having driven all or nothing power steering and variable, there's no contest for me. Nuff said, I'll shut up now, I only wanted to highlight that a chunk of the litesteer cost will be for this, IIRC, it's another few hundred quids worth, so might help someone wondering about the big price difference.
One definite difference is that the litesteer design doesn't just cut and weld your steering column. They have engineered and machined brand new parts to fit. No cutting or welding required. Sent from my SM-N9500 using Tapatalk
I don’t know the specifics but I felt he really knew his stuff and getting it fitted by him I had complete confidence.
You should see @Gingerbus park his bus, arm leaning on the window, roll up sticking to his top lip, then it's a one handed turn into a parking space ,
Once the smoke from the wheelspin cleared I picked up that motorbike and the bits and parked it in the next bay. I think I got away with it.
