  1. Hi,

    *** NOW REDUCED TO JUST 6500 and running/driving ***

Change of plans means I may be parting with my bus, full details as follows:

I am not sure how to get photos of him up on here, but here is a link which shows the bus at a show last summer - it's the second bus down (the green one)..

    http://vw-fun.rdy.jp/photo/rss/photo-d20110924.html

Anyway, its a left hand drive tin top from Sweden, 1972 so tax free but servo disc barkes.

New clutch, new green interior with cream piping consisting of retrimmed front seats, new front carpet, full width rock&roll bed with buddy seat & unit the other side - rears seat belts fitted. Madmatz black/cream floor tiles, table.

Whitewall tyres with brand new baby moons.

    Lowered with adjustable front beam.

11 months MOT & (free) tax.

Sumatra green (all over), very original and not messed about with - looks like original paint with the exception of sills, battery tray and a couple of other bits (paint on the sill doesn't match particularly well).
Solid underneath, gutters are straight as an arrow with all original [glow=red,2,300]FACT[/glow]ory welds visible below the paint, original stickers on sliding door, behind petrol flap, behind drivers seat, etc, no rust around windows, door gaps as it left the [glow=red,2,300]FACT[/glow]ory, sides are straight as an arrow, no rust around door bottoms, edges of sliding door, tailgate, engine lid, etc.

Sorry to harp on about the bodywork, but it is such an original bus with no rot whatsoever and mostly as it left the [glow=red,2,300]FACT[/glow]ory - getting very hard to find like this.

There are a couple of very small dents, scratches and stone chips on the front panel, but this all ties in with 40 year old bodywork - window rubbers all look original to me too.

Very interesting bus- even the seat belts look like [glow=red,2,300]FACT
[/glow]ory originals as the clip fits onto a long metal bar which is bolted to the seat floor (looks like something they would have done 40 yrs ago)!

    Everything works - stereo/cd fitted.

Original swedish handbook & documentation from Sweden, along with a load of receipts from the UK (imported in 2007).

So, the bus itself is fantastic to use as is, the paint is fantastic, or if someone painted the whole bus they know it would be solid for years to come - no filler or rust repairs required, just a flat down and a paint job and you would have a mint bus).

Sorry to harp on about the originality of the bus, but it is so good - when I got the bus, the paintwork in the engine bay looked very tired, like it probably needed painting - started cleaning it up, and it turns out to be just 40 years of dust, with [glow=red,2,300]FACT
    [/glow]ory fresh paint underneath!

The previous owner used the bus up until earlier this year I believe, but then parked it up and the engine has now developed a misfire.

It starts fine and does not blow any smoke so bottom end looks fine.

I have fitted brand new twin carbs, points, plugs, leads, dizzy cap etc, but this didn;t resolve the misfire.

Compression test shows that no's 1 and 3 cylinders are a little low on compression but 2 and 4 are fine.

    May be stuck valves?

Anyway, I thought I may give the opportunity to someone a bit more mechanically 'enthusiastic' than me to fix the misfire and then they would have a superb bus - I haven't had the bus long, but am not currently working and think the money would be more use than the bus at the moment!

Looking at what buses are selling for, and bearing in mind the condition of the bus and interior, I think £8k would be a good price - for that price I would arrange and pay for delivery, as long as the new owner is not a million miles away, unless you want to pick it up yourself.

    (I am in Solihull),

If anyone is genuinely interested, you can text or phone me to arrange a viewing, or e-mail ade.king@blueyonder.co.uk for piccies (but please only if you are genuinely interested in buying the bus).

    Thanks,

  2. Looks a nice bus dude.

  3. Cheers Lord Charles - and thanks for posting the picture up for me mate!!

  4. I found that a the servo to intake manifold pipe had come off, so now starts and runs fine - driveable but still think a valve could be stuck, unless its just the carbs need setting up/tuning, as it still doesn;t seem to pull right.

However, still not sure which way to go with this, so I have reduced the price to £6500 which I think is cheap for such a solid and original bus with a retrimmed interior - if it does not sell for that price, I will keep it and get the carbs tuned/fit new heads myself over the winter.

  5. no takers or offers -this is one seriously cheap bus considering the condition & shouldn't take much to get it running properly for somene who knows what they are doing.

  6. sorry keeping this now as got it sorted.
