Watched that pillock, Jamie Oliver on Monday night. Portable Chilli, that sounds like a goer, lets pay attention - I might take that down to Brighton. So he makes an interesting enough chilli with a slab of Brisket. Then leaves it to cook slowly on the hob for four & a half hours. Wraps it up tightly & says it'll keep warm for 3-4 hours. Great, I'll be up at 3:00 am just in time to leave at 8:00 am. This would work, but you'd need to bung it in the slow cooker the night before. I hate TV programmes like this, that aren't thought out properly. the chilli was clearly cold when he was filmed eating it. Arsebiscuit!
I have tried it and it was amazing. We cooked it the day before and reheated it on the cooker come dinner time. The recipe from his book which I guess is the same one ended up making about 12 portions.
It was when he declined to use a knife to chop anything and simply mushed it up with his hands that I thought... you're trying too hard now mate.
