Poor behaviour on campsites

  1. I've just come back from a weekend in Leicestershire in the bus with the family and experienced on Friday night the worst behaviour I've ever seen in over 30 years of camping.

A group of about 10 adults with about 8 kids, 4 dogs and 3 puppies in a cage proceeded to get drunk out of their minds and not even start their barbeque till gone 10 at night. At midnight they were still hollaring and shouting, every other word was a swear word and they even had the audacity to shout at their kids to keep quiet at gone 1 in the morning. At half one the fighting broke out, all at top volume followed by one of the men having a stand up row with his other half. He then beat on his car bonnet for about 5 minutes.

Then he got in it!!! Wheel span it and drove around the campsite - all at gone 2 in the morning. Only a thunderstorm put a stop to it. Wardens nowhere to be seen and to be honest I don't blame them. They were aggressive, ready for a fight and ended up starting one. Anyone approaching them would have copped it, no doubt.

I complained to the reception in the morning, apparently another dozen people had too. And top marks to the campsite - straight over and they kicked them off the site there and then. Total tossers with absolutely no respect for others - at one point I heard them remarking on the fact that all the lights were out around the campsite. Didn't stop them though. Clearly got around the no single groups policy by bringing some small children along so they could pretend to be a family.

I've been to festivals, VW shows and campsites all over and never this. I can laugh now but at the time was wondering what it had all come to.

I'm sure others on here can top this. Anyone?

  3. Sound eerily like the the group we came across at Freshwater Bay two years ago . Behaviour matches exactly!

  4. Totally spoils the trip I bet :(

  5. Like I said - I can laugh now and Saturday night was really pleasant. Problem is the campsites can't predict this sort of behaviour. I felt sorry for their kids though - shouted at like dogs and pretty much left to their own devices while the "responsible adults" got smashed.

  6. Me and 4 girls went up the lochside several years ago (Scotland) them camping ,me in bus ,so far so good ,lots (used to) camp there, geezers from Glasgow turn up ,pitch up and proceed to get totally wasted on the all to usual substances ,they went 100%mental ,and I do mean mental ,all night long .The threats of stabbings/violence were something to be (not)heard ! next morn speaking to the other decent peeps who were parked/camped up overnight I found not surprisingly I was not alone in my horror/disgust that these tossers had seen fit to effectively ruin what was ,at the start ,a Fabio weekend /cheepo jolly , peeps had brought their children along cos it is a place of natural beauty ,good place to be , I have since read that all overnight stays ,tent/camper is/are banned and the local police force are enforcing this ban with enthusiasm ,once again the few ruined it for everyone >question? (to myself)why travel all that way to get out of it when they could have saved the transport money and got even more wasted underneath the stone they usually live?<yup ,deffo "Angry from Tunbridge wells on this one !

  7. This is why i don't really like camping in camp sites in england. too many inconsiderate *****s drinking long into the night and keeping everyone else up. I'd rather stop in a farmer's field or in a layby.

  8. it's a real shame and to be honest as much as I love the camping in the bus it's always in the back of my mind what bellends are gonna turn up.,few years ago huge field 5 or 6 tents. Then f##k me if a @hailfrank and his Mrs turn up and pitch right next to us with the car door open playing drum and base. all the field and its necessary to get as close as poss to us...doh.

  9. This is the beauty of having a couple of dogs.If people camp to close and are tossers then we get the dogs to bark at them and when they ask"arw they fiendly?"we say NO :) but if they are nice we say yes and let them make friends and wag tails instead of bark.Just for info they are both VERY friendly and love nothing more than a bit of fuss(they still will bark sometimes though!!)

    Welllllllllllllllllllll,
I've been camping with a bunch of respectable peeps and their kids and our kids and been asked to shut up a few times - usually on the Friday night when the joviality and bon homme gets in gear. No fighting, swearing etc, but you know how it is - in the awning, several bottles of wine, kids in bed and before you know it it's 2am and you've forgotten where you are and how not sound-proof an awning is... oops. By Saturday after too many beers with lunch, a BBQ and another bottle or 2 we'd all be tucked up at 9pm.

Even naughty kenregency and sANDYbAY were asked to keep the noise down a couple of weeks ago. Tut-tut!

Also come across people who for no apparent random reason tell you they'll kill you if you say anything bad about their kids. Seems quite common for drunks. o_O Er, hmmm

    So yes, point taken.

Had that too - they don't realise what they're doing until they switch it off and it dawns on them it's only them making a racket. Country and Western is worse though.

  13. I cannot think who on earth you may be referring to :p

We may have had a teeny tiny comment to keep the noise down, started by some questionable singing. Having reviewed the video evidence I can say I totally disagree

we have a music festival in our village every year ,EVERYONE moves out for the weekend unless you like drums all night ...:D

soon as I see a group camping alarm bells ring....

  20. Feel for ya Jonspadge its just not right.
Years ago we took the camper to Battle in sussex, camped up next to an old couple with all the gear you know tellies, microwaves the lot, as it happened they were right nice.Opposite us was a couple that were all cowboyed up with a yank pick up that was hitched to a trailer like an artic lorry. All day long they had a generator running and country and cheesy rock n roll music blaring.About seven o clock they unhitched the pick up and looking like slim whitman and Dolly parton they rumbled off in the v8. We went to the club house a little while later only to find that was as far as they drove ( 500 yards) where they spent the evening doing thumbs in the belt loops dancing all night. Not at all annoying but very funny.
