Cool beans, but as the minimum bend radius is the same as copper and any old plumber I find to make the pieces will have copper I think I'll stick to that.
As far as joints between copper and speedi plastic type pipe, I have quite a lot already just using the speedi fit connectors` and no leaks so again - keep it simple I think as I know this does work.

At some point I'll have to empty everything hot/cold/heating and have a plumbing day. Not looking forward to that as all the pipes are floor level and it's incredibly annoying and difficult to drain down any of it.

Sadly my tame semi-retired marina plumber has called it a day after his wife died last year and such things became pointless. RIP Jeff's wife. :(

:( oh dear. Maybe he will come back to it in time? It may be a distraction?

Have you thought of using Speedfit pipework under the floor, or does it need a tighter bend? If you use the roll stuff rather than the straight lengths? I’ve been told it’s less susceptible to freezing and splitting than copper but don’t know if that’s an actual fact?

It doesn't really bend does it?
Regarding freezing, the floor level is a good foot below the water outside so unless the marina freezes to a depth of over a foot it will be above freezing?

My condolences to Jeff, and RIP Mrs Jeff.

I'm intrigued by the word 'tame' - this implies that other than Jeff, most Marina Plumbers are wild.

    I like this thought.

How does wild manifest itself - I'd hope they might have a pirate galleon instead of a crappy old van - maybe the boat version of a T5 or T6?

Do they want to kill all boat fitters as opposed to just kitchen fitters?

Are they friends with sparkies or not?

  9. Buy a pipe bender, Steve. £45, and you're master of your own destiny.

It has a curve to it and if you have enough space to bring a stub up straight you can put a fitting on it above floor level.

Just make a template of what you want go to a plumber locally ( if you have one at a reasonable distance) and ask him to bend this pipe ( that you have ready in hand ) to this shape please sir!

ps, tell him you can’t do it they always like to show off their skills and tools!

He's just a really nice guy, lives on the marina and did little jobs for peanuts pretty much within a few minutes of asking him.

Exactly, they can supply the pipe too I'm sure.

8 bends then never again, it would just be a useless tool to store after that.

  16. Stick it on eBay!

  18. If you get a plumber in, they'll just charge you £80 callout and spend two hours farting and eating all your biscuits...
