ahhh, ok, and they're bloody dear to replace, as you know i need a new one, but although they are £99 on e-bay i bet they're crap, a decent one is £300!
I used to have a dark blue car and in summer it was unbearable to be inside without the aircon on So why would having a dark roof and getting too hot in a camper be funny?
I can see your quandry Para. You want your van to be 2 different things. Well you don't, but circumstances dictate it must. You want a rugged, manly all-terrain woodmans assualt craft that can tear up passing trees and eat them for fuel - a bit like "crab-logger" if anyone's old enough to remember thunderbirds... Your family would maybe prefer something pastel with white bumpers, but at least a bit toned down from full-on camo and anchor rope. It's a right old puzzler. Somewhere lies the answer... I wonder how it will end up? I suspect we're going to see your bus go through a few real-life changes as well as the photoshop ones. Can't wait for the spring. My personal advise is to paint it some shade of purple you can live with and throw in some scaqtter cushions. Purple camo maybe photoshoppers? Mrs Para will be happy as all women like purple for some reason. I had a purple rust bucket in my unit once and EVERY passing woman thought it was the best one even though there were a couple of really nice ones to pick from as well. OOOO that ones lovely, can I have a look inside?
To be serious though there is one VW green I think you might like. Trying to remember what it's called but it's quite a natural looking one not too light, not too dark. Dean_butler's bus is that colour - it's on his avatar. I'll post when I remember. Then maybe really dark green for the bits and bobs - almost camo, yet...
I like the idea of using two tones of green and using the darker one for the bullbars etc instead of black That hadent even crossed my mind before and would be a lot more subtle than black Cheers zed thats got me head thinking again
See - I love you really. Might have been Velvet green - I should know - I painted it. :-[ Not as nice as mine though, which co-incidently and entirely by chance is an aubergine/purple type colour
Ive found deans bus and your right it is a quite natural tone of green Id imagine my bus painted that colour including the westy style roof but with the bumpers and bullbars, wheels etc painted a shade or two darker green would give the look im after without being ott Its a shame im not close to you zed otherwise id prep the bus myself and save up for you to paint it Deans bus in the link below http://thelatebay.com/index.php?topic=190.0
