Can anyone help? I am on holiday and noticed that the van is leaking petrol from a small tube dangling from the petrol pump. The petrols coming out in a steady stream. The Haynes manual doesn't even mention this tube so dont know what it's supposed to do. Can anyone help? Obviously a little nervous about driving it in this condition. Cheers, Darrell.
Type 4 engine I presume? Not 100% on type 4 engine but I think this is a sign of a worn diaphragm. If this is the case you'll need to find a good second hand one or wire in an aftermarket electric one.
Thanks for feedback guys. Managed to find a place in the south of France to look at it (not easy!). They said it was a faulty fuel pump and have replaced with an electric one, along with a regulator. Looks to be the same kit as on the justkampers website. Managed to get back to the campsite ok, but wouldn't go above 55mph in top. So assume I need to wind up the regulator a little. It's currently set on 2.5/5. Then went back just not to check and found that fuel is leaking from the new fuel pump connector. Never rains but it pours huh? I'm going to go have a drink and a little cry....... Oh yes. It is a type 4 engine.
More info. This looks like the fuel pump they've fitted: http://www.justkampers.com/shop/electric-fuel-pump-12v-j13083.html And this looks like the regulator: http://www.justkampers.com/shop/fuel-pressure-regulator-kit-adjusts-fuel-pressure-to-prevent-carb-needle-seat-damage-j13370.html I think I Have all the right bits. Just need to find a way to connect them all together without leaking. On a french campsite. About 1200km from the nearest halfords.
