  1. Hi all I am running the Birmingham half marathon in aid of cystic fibrosis I don’t promise to break any records but I will finish it and your help will help make a massive difference so no matter how small your donation it will be very much appreciated. I am one of the lucky ones who carry the faulty gene that causes Cystic Fibrosis but do not have the illness, around one in twenty five adults have this condition and if 2 carriers have a child then there is a 1 in 4 chance of that child having cystic fibrosis. Fortunately none of my children suffer but as the faulty gene can be passed from parent to child it doesn’t mean their children and even their grandchildren won’t be affected.

A few other facts and figures are below.

Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is one of the UK's most common life-threatening inherited diseases.
Cystic Fibrosis affects over 9,000 people in the UK.
Over two million people in the UK carry the faulty gene that causes Cystic Fibrosis - around 1 in 25 of the population.
If two carriers have a child, the baby has a 1 in 4 chance of having Cystic Fibrosis.
Cystic Fibrosis affects the internal organs, especially the lungs and digestive system, by clogging them with thick sticky mucus. This makes it hard to breathe and digest food.
Each week, five babies are born with Cystic Fibrosis.
Each week, two young lives are lost to Cystic Fibrosis.
Only half of those living with Cystic Fibrosis are likely to live past their late 30s

Many thanks I don’t expect much but if as many of you guys as possible gave just a pound then it would make a massive difference. The link is below if you wish to.
