Patience is running out

  1. I'm at where many have been at - a resto nearing its end and the moment of driving your bus for the first time, getting close now. And I bet everyone gets the exact same feeling of excitement and anticipation, after months of graft and shelling out thousands for the bits you can't do yourself (I really do envy folk who can do it all themselves), sorting out one unexpected problem after the other, and it just goes on and on and on and at times you think you're never going to fulfill your dream. Blah, blah, blah. For gawd sake, I just wanna drive the bloody thing!

Ever watched Andy Pipkin from Little Britain? My wife worries that, when driving the bus for the first time, I'm going to turn to her and say 'I don't like it'. I hope it won't be that sort of anti-climax.

  2. "but you said that driving a bus was the climactic fulfilment of pervasive resentment of modern ways and the resolution of shared childhood fantasy."

    "yeah I know."

  5. Afrer nearly five years resto, I just know I'm not going to like mine, So I just keep inventing jobs to do that keeps it off the road.........

  6. I feel exactly the same Baydreams/lawts0908

I too keep finding little insignificant jobs to do, to keep the resto going just a little longer :(

luckilly HorTs and Tezzah once let me drive their busses (as I'd never driven one) to make sure I liked it .............I did ;D ........but cant remember what it was like now ::) ..........I'll have to ask HorTs for another go when he's fitted his big engine ;D

It's not so much finding more to do, it's finding there is more to do.

  12. ABSOLUTELY TOTALLY FANTASTIC, MOONS. I TOTALLY LOVED THAT!!!! You know, it reminded me so much of my 2 year drive around Oz in a Bay / Kombi. Fantastic. Thanks for sharing. :)

Buddy, that's someone else's talent and brilliant execution, sadly not mine, I only found it!!

But I like that the bus isn't perfect, it's just being used by people plainly happy.

Reminded me that imperfect is perfect!
