Unfortunately our bay Reggie just suffered from a shattered windscreen. So took the opportunity to strip out the dash for refurb before fitting new windscreen. Found a couple of old parking tickets behind the heater riser and thought it would give some idea of vans past life. The dates on them have faded completely but they are in Finnish! Which is a god awful long way from Bristol where it was first registered. I am baffled - has Reggie been to the Arctic Circle?
RAY! You didn't shatter the screen through mad 'axe' man antics did you? Its a shame the dates on the tickets have disappeared, but it seems Reggie has got about a bit
Always be thankfull for small mercys it could have been a lot worse Nice oppurtunity to fit a heated front screen
national windscreens do green tint and heated, i had them out to fit new rubbers to mine a few weeks ago and the fitter checked he could get a replacement incase the screen broke when we refitted it.
You now need to put the recovery picture in ."The ones who never made it back " section where you will be in good company
cool, always nice to find a bit of history, all i found on my inner windscreen was the schofields tape the po couldnt be bothered to remove!
I asked my finnish girlfriend and the only clues are the civil aviation stamp on the 2nd one. It also has the price in marks which is pre 1998 when the Euro came in. So looks like your bus was over there at some time in an airport carpark pre '98.
Thanks for the comments/info guys. I don't think I will go for a heated windscreen as I am not sure the old boy will be capable of pushing out the 30-40 amps they require, but a green tint - that sounds cool. Thanks for the info on the ticket Fronk - I don't have any history on the bus before June 88 when he was owned by a guy in Bristol, had racked up 92k miles (in 9 years) and needed a new clutch. It seems he must have spent a bit of time travelling around Europe.
