After something Rickyrooo wrote below I wondered how many folks are guage watchers and how moany disguise the pinking by just turning up the stereo! I usually find the first few miles of a long bus journey a bit stressy and then its on with the sounds and smiles all the way!
I've only ever not stopped to look for the cause of a noise once, instead I choose to listen to the missus at the time and turn up the stereo - it was a tapping noise in rythm with the engine rpm on a Corrado VR6. You can only imagine my delight when it threw a spark plug so hard out the top of the engine it put a dent that stuck up a good 1cm proud if the rest of the bonnet, on the ring road in Oxford at rush hour. Had I looked at it when I noticed it first, I could have tightened it, as thats all it needed at first. £900 and 1 month off the road later, I got the car back - 5 days after that it was written off by an artic, and I lost the £900 as the effin insurance deemed it wear and tear (4 years later when they finally admitted liability). I always look now.
the hangers in the wardrobe and the squeek in the table leg have been identified in the past as 'engine noises'
I cant hear anything above the noise of the air rushing in through the gaps in the cab door shuts!! :shiver:
