https://thepalominoclub.blogspot.com/2011/02/history-of-palomino.html "The Palomino was a real eye-catcher when it was launched as no other VW bay at that time had such a grand high-top or luxurious interior." I'd nominate a Landmark out guns it, and a Westy isn't far off. The one in the advert is a nice one, fair play.
Is this the one that maximised the available head height by putting the rear seats over the engine bay, leaving much more floor space in front?
Reading the blurb - its the one where they removed the central roof brace like they DON'T do on Westies so VW would not guarantee it in a roll over - which with all that weight up there might be more of a risk.
my factory t25 high top has no middle brace across the roof , they do very well in roll overs , there’s a few videos , it’s quite impressive
I knew it. Catsaylor had one. https://thelatebay.com/index.php?threads/upside-down-speedboat-aka-palomino-hi-top-roof.34344/
I think everyone on the whole inter web thingy was waiting for your comment / seal of approval there. Maybe I’ll make a bit of money and run a book the very next time someone posts up a weirdo or wackyoo sort of motor. We could just try for a time and see how long you can hold off cooing over some freaky nut jobber of a van . Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,, couldn’t hold out a whole day couldya?
Was it one that she sold at Volksworld a few back when it was in the TLB line up? Or am I talking out of my arris..................as usual?
I’ve seen a high top roof like that on a bus a looooong time ago at RTTS, orsomewhere down there. It wasn’t that colour bus. More blue.
Bad memory there, it went back to silver. CBA to read the ad again but I don't recall be impressed with it's authenticity in general.
Baysearcher summed it up pretty well 'This to me looks like an averagely restored bay that has lost every one of its limited edition features, apart from its price!'
