Overhead locker?

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by Lardy, May 13, 2013.

  1. Has anyone got a template to make an overhead locker or dimensions I could have please? :)

  2. Whereabouts are you?
I've got a homemade Westy copy in the garage.
It's pretty good quality and the dimensions are correct.
Your welcome to borrow / use it.

  3. Cambridge?

  4. I had a Devon one, can't remember who I gave it too, but someone of here. It was on a thread, it wasn't usable so they may still have it

  5. I have a westy berlin lh drive locker. I'm in Boston hour and a half away. You can borrow it if you want, if you're rh drive I suppose you would have to reverse it (if you see what I mean)

  6. Any pics fella? Didn't realise they were handed??

  7. All I need really is the measurements to be honest if someone would have a spare moment? :)

Hey buddy that was me. We still have it. We have been away in the van every weekend lately so still havnt done it. Will be def soon as its on my mind to.

  9. That's great, thanks LC, gives me a better idea of sizes. Cheers :)

  10. The handing is due to it being bolted through the rear cupboard which on my l hooker is on the left of the van. I just assumed that because of the sliding door the layout would have to be reversed, of course i could be wrong (and frequently are according to SWMBO)

  11. Ah I see, I don't have a locker in the rear so want a full width one, if that makes sense? :)

  12. The top locker can be 'stand alone' unit which doesn't have to have a cupboard beneath it. How it is actually supported I really don't know. I've seen many different ones. My current van has the Moonraker interior and those plans illustrate it http://www.devonmoonraker.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/bay/1978_Moonraker_Plans.pdf

My previous van had just the toplocker but was like a fronted box and either side was space for speakers. You often see them for sale second hand at shows etc if you wanted to copy a particular style. The ones I liked best were in my dads 1971 Sunlander - it was two separate lockers.

  13. Cheers Neptuneblue, don't suppose you'd have any pics would you?

  14. I can take pics of my current locker yes.. standby

  15. Cool, standing by :)

At the rear it is screwed into the bodywork all the way across.

  17. What about your dads top locker outta the sunlander? At pics of that?

  18. Cool thanks for those pics, gives me the bracket points perfect! :)
