  1. Our trip to the Outer Hebrides:

We left Friday evening to drive half way to Oban ferry port.

We used Park4night app to find places to stay, heading mainly for completely wild camping spots.

So first night after a 3 1/2 hr drive and about 185 miles was in Finglandrigg wood.
A nice quiet spot and free of course.

Next morning was a another 4 hrs or so up to Oban ferry port. We decided to go South to North on the islands so a long ferry to start with, 5hr40min.

Quick stop on the way to Oban to look at a Loch with a hydroelectric station, (but mainly to have a pee)[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

  6. Arriving in Castlebay, Barra.

Off the ferry and a 15 minute drive to Vatersay, our overnight stop with an East and west beach within a couple of hundred yards of each other. The nutters went for a swim.

Sausages for tea and some wine and cheese for afters. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

  11. After the first night stay we whizzed up to the top of Barra (20 minutes) for an early morning ferry over to Eriskay.

Found another beauty of a beach(this theme runs heavily throughout our trip) and looked at some very old roundhouse ruins. Also found the remenants of a vehicle that was clearly left intact and had rotted away. [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

  12. Looks lovely, it's an amazing place when the sun shines and there's a bit of breeze to keep the midges away :)

  15. looks like a fun trip. Faroe Islands next year then?

  16. That does look like a good trip... and the beach looks spot on ..

  17. After lunch we went to look for a spot to stay for the night and also do some eagle spotting(spotted zero eagles) but did see a few random horses, did a couple of walks near Loch Skipport, got wet and then dried out and got wet again, retired for the night at the side of another Loch down the road, where we were treated to a very windy night, we had to put the top down and I had to sleep on the front seat (=crappy night sleep).

spotted a couple opf birds of prey on the way round too. We think a short eared Owl and a hawk of some sort

  20. So onto finidng a camp spot for the next night, Luskentyre beach it was. South Harris has a few spots where you donate money for a nights stay, £5 is a bargain and we paid via paypal.
And another vehicle carcass, now that's a rusty spring!! [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]
