Well this is going well, I know it's been cloudy but the machine reports it's put a total of 84 "watts" into my "system" which is only a battery, I've had nothing switched on.
84w/12v = 7A I assume it must mean Ah or it couldn't count them? That's over 48 whole hours. Better than nothing but my trickle charge would have managed that in 3 1/2 hours.

@zed , If the battery is fully charged, I think the machine gets rid of the solar energy through the heat sink. Battery voltage is pretty much the only figure I look at now, plus the amps going in but that's only a real time snap-shot.
I'm sure the answer is "yes" but have you set the "restart" parameter to around 12.5v or 12.6v (plus set all the other charge settings). If the info. panel indicates your battery is 12.6v then all is well.

Well the answer is actually that I wasn't expecting to have to come up with all those figures so took the defaults. I'm still running the knackered battery.

what's the battery voltage reading on the led display?

I'll look in the morning but I'd thought the battery run down enough to need a good charge, it always is. :(
