  1. Good choice for the heater location & a neat installation. The stance of your bus looks just right 8)

Unless you need the space in the engine bay I wouldn't do it. You can still make a cover like I have or to suit your cupboard.

  7. That heater location is very cunning  :D might keep the noise down while camping too.

so where are you ducting the out let to? are you going to plumb it into the existing heater pipes or new ducting to somewhere else?

out of interest can you use those heaters whilst on the move or just when your camping?

As I mentioned earlier, it's not ideal how I had it fitted. It was irking me - I've been walking past it all day - so I put in a couple of hours after work.

First I carved some brackets from the remains of the box to mount the mounting plate. Now it can sit exhaust down and warm air towards the cabin. I don't know why I didn't think of this in the first place - I've seen enough pictures on here with the exhaust straight through the cabin floor!

The routing for the petrol and all the pipes is now more sensible and it's a bit tidier. The warm air and inlet are both going into the cabin above the wheelarch.

As that didn't take as long as expected, I dug out the exhaust tailpipe but it's the same dia as the s/s flex pipe, so I had to make a reducer and weld it to the tailpipe so the flexi would fit. Then drilled a hole in the battery tray and slotted it through. The tailpipe comes with a collar to fix it to the battery tray (or floor or whatever). Handy.:)

Tidy Exhaust route.:) If the noise bugs me I can slot in a silencer easily enough. The inlet needs lengthening or replacing.

    And ratty tailpipe.

  11. Thats a lot neater now zed

Ive thought about removing mine and fitting a small 240 v generator in the space where the leisure battery and wheel well would sit

  13. If i do go for it dude it wont be run lots

Its more of a idea for when im many miles away from population to use it as an emergeny back up

Im hoping a battery and solar panel will provide most of my normal camping needs but 240 volt and 12 volt on tap independent from the vehicle systems would be a godsend if things went wrong far from help

Or if i passed out drunk with the lights and stereo on and the fridge on 12 volt lol

I normally use a car battery instead of a leisure one. Then leave everything as is using the vehicle battery with just a split charger on the extra battery. If it won't start I just swap the batteries over. This has only happened once, but I'm a Tilley lamp and warm beer kind of camper. And this isn't technically going to be a camper.

Rather than have Kilowatts on tap this'll be a low power use vehicle - I don't feel the need for gadgets - apart from the heater.:)

I've camped for a week without starting the engine using the standard Westy Flourescent light and it still started (whereas the cab light will drain it in a day) but they are a bit stark. As I only have a cab type light in the back I thought I'd try and think of something to do with LED's. It's the current vogue doncha know. I'm having a ply headlining so I might add a spine down the centre for lights.

  15. I love tilley lamps ill post a pic below of mine below
I can camp on my own for a long time with not much kit
Its part training and part mindset off i dont need it or i can utilise somthing else to do that

My bus is difficult to make sense of as i think it needs to be so many different things for what i want from it and what the girls want from it

See i want an on board compresser so i can drop the tyre pressure and venture that bit further from people and be able to raise the pressures once i was back on road

My wife would want to get nice curtains before then

my eldest would want the fake obscure westy bed sorting out so she had room to actually sleep in it

My youngest would want it blue

    No wonder my head hurts

  17. I dont belive zed real hes a robot mutation fed on old haynes manuals and rust
He will post pictures on here for etrnety but you will never see him at a show or a tlb get together

There maybe rare sighting of him taking up loads of room in his bus whilst reading by tilley light but they will just be like sightings of the yeti
