On/off tap for servo vac hose?

    Any ideas?
I'd like to be able to switch it off, the servo connection makes the weight bob up and down on my Morgan carb balancer thing and getting the hose off the manifold fitting barb requires hacking up the pipe which is... inconvenient.

  2. Solenoid ?

  4. Can you not just clamp the pipe with a pair of mole grips or would that be a bit to hard on your pipes.

It's a steel reinforced 1/2" servo vacuum pipe. I don't think that would go well. :)
You do love your gadgets eh? lol
A simple petrol fume proof on/off tap is all I would need, I'd only use it once in a blue moon. I wouldn't want to loose my brakes if I had an electrical problem.

They’ll probably get you what you want or need.

They always have so far, I love that place but they'll struggle with the petrol proof aspect. :)

  8. Presumably you would get a "normally open" solenoid valve, then no risk to brakes in case of electrical failure. 1/2" petrol/gas tap easier!

You may well be right. Covers the petrol problem nicely.
I'd still prefer a foolproof manual tap, I suppose I should look myself. lol

  10. Sorry Steve ! I know you like your simplicity

I do have a gut mistrust of electrically operated valves, I kind of like seeing which way the tap is pointing, it's reassuring for an electrical numpty like me.. :)

Petrol proof? I guess they would be. Good idea sir!

    Probably not. :(

Something like that, but petrol proof then. :D

I'd be quietly amused to have that as a functional part of my braking system. :)

Some of those taps have check valves in them so the result might be surprising..like no flow .. not that one would use one..
Whats wrong with a ball valve with a stainless or PTFE ball ? Like the LPGjets ones above.

  19. Can you imagine seeing a Bib tape connected to the engine .... perhaps knowing you , you’ve fitted one
