OMG, how quick?

  1. Finally got the engine out of the crewcab in between rain showers. Got the type 4 out of the pretender today too but didn't video that. Broke my own record and got the engine out of the crewcab in just 15 seconds... ;)

    But will it start....

  6. Ran out if time due to lack of light and rain then stopped play. But, got the gearbox out of the crewcab, gearbox out of the pretender, swapped, bolted back up, 'j' tubes on, ex @Paul Weeding fish zorst on, and engine in the engine bay so should be a quick lift and bolt up tomorrow ready for the long drive to dub freeze Sunday  Seems I have dislodged a push rod tube so it's now spuking oil everywhere.

Here is where it has sat just looking at me all day

I really do NOT like working on a lowered van - too claustrophobic
    :(

  7. Can you get your wheels off that fast yet? ;)

  8. Forgot about them feckers! Thanks for the reminder!

  9. It looks like your van cocked a leg for a dump.. Don't know why that was my first thought.. Haha

  10. Haha, yes, it does look like itMarmite its engine out!
    :)

  11. Aaaarrrrgggghhhh!!!!

School boy error in my haste I forgot to put the engine bar on before the zorst!!!!

    Feck arse b'stard!!!!

  12. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

    oops.

  13. What a freaking palaver! Got the engine bar on, only a 5 minute job as the fan casing comes off easy enough. Finally got the engine in after having to remove the rear bumper as it wouldn't clear the exhaust. Had to fettle the bottom of the bumper and give it a subtle bend ;) finally got it in only to find that the rear tow eye fouled the tail pipe:mad:

So the grinder came out, set fire to my sleeve because I forgot to wash my overalls last night and they were soaked. My jeans kept falling down because they're an old pair when I was a fat feck

Then I managed to break the stud on the starter motor so had to swap that over

Then realised that the freaking throttle cable is too short

All this and it's done feck all but rain all day

But its in there now. But I'm going to miss dubfreeze:(

  16. Very adept at bumper removal :)

  17. So I've got the engine running and just went for an installation run. OMG it is so fast. Whether it's the weight difference or that coupled with the @Paul Weeding fish zorst I don't know but it goes like bloody stink! So much quicker than the microbus I just took it out of, surely it can't just be the weight? Sadly can't try for a 0-60 as I can only get 1st and 3rd gears
    :)

  19. Just need a new shift coupler, the one on the crewcab looks original and the urethane sides are loose and moving about, hence the gear change issues. There also seems to be something fouling the gear pedal which I need to look at. You'll have to come for a spin in it next weekend. When's the next gathering at the CofT?
    :)
