  1. There's a thread on earlybay about it, can't see the pics at work but I don't think there are any on there after it had some work done at midland paintwerks although they may be on the facebook link in the thread:

I was always under the belief that the holiday was the whole month of August. And have had a problem with planned production dates of Aug. My 73was planned production Sept 28 72which is feasiblepreesuming they start back at the end of Aug. But before the end of Aug?

  5. i think the 72 /73 year was packed with global problems in manufacturing n stuff , also 66/ 67 was a year of celebration for us too :D

Fellowes had a 68 Amrican Bay - it had splitty door handles and some other bits that I cant remember that made it unique - dunno if that made it a very early one?

  7. 68's should all have late splitty style door handles,

So split door handles put you in the ballpark, need to check the chassis number as there is no other obvious tell tale?

    No firewall - different mirror

  16. There is a thread on prototype bay about the "special" bits, some carry on to 69my. Off the top off my head:

Push button Door handles (not exactly the same as splits, lock cam bit is shorter)
    Front doors
    Raised brow on dash top
    Brake fluid reservoir
    Rear drum
    Brake backing plates
    Wiper arms and spindles
    Rear view mirror
Westfalia rock and roll bed has large door
No firewall (added in later 68 production)
    Fuse box

Probably other bits I forgot :)

So it's open between the engine and fuel tank?

  19. Back to the original van, I think its probably April 68. Chassis number is later than my October 67

And no breather pipes running around the air intakes to the air filter, though I don't know if this is 68 only or all earlies.
