I love travellling on the old roads ,motorways are great for speed and easy navigation but. i use them all time in my job. We are blessed with some cracking old a n b roads in Worcestershire and i like nothing better than heading off down the A38 down to Bristol ,its 80 odd miles at a slower pace throgh places like Tewkesbury and Gloucester. Am i alone or do others prefer the change of pace too or do you have a favourite old road you could recommend.
you are truly alone! but yes, i love discovering old b roads that i've never been down. get a few on fire shouts in random places!
Our small roads are infested with tractors and farm Vehicles all queing up behind VW in Kent that is , Apples , caul, tats , cabgiz anyone ;D
i found an old road from bury to sudbury. came out near a viaduct with a vw hire company near it. no idea where i was tbh but close to pink houses so still in suffolk. really nice area to travel through
There's an old road I like to use between Birmingham and Leicester. Geographically it's the most direct route, and it takes in places like Market Bosworth and Sheepy Magna.
When I was doing 300+ miles a day between Luton and Portsmouth (and back) I would avoid the major roads especially when the snow was here. ;D You see so much more of this beautiful country when not on fast roads, I was on tight time schedules and was never late for using back roads.
I am in no hurry ,so the scenic view is the way to go ,some of my greatest adventures have been on the little roads... I can also say that about life.... ;D
The best road in the country has to be the A68 heading to Edinburgh from Newcastle. It's like being on a rollercoaster!
yeah but do you all have a favourite a good old scenic road that you love travelling on , somewhere that chills you out where you put n a cd , take yer foot of the throttle and watch the scenery roll by . i do that when i go to Aberystwyth from Kiddy , i always go via the b518 up past the reservoirs at Elan valley -- brill scenery and you can stop where you like , it will probably be my first trip out in the van
