old reg. nos

  1. i called a general parts supplier to get a price comparison re the starter i"m gonna buy ,and geezer asks 1st for my reg, which i tell him and then followed quite a silence followed by geezer asking me to repeat reg cos his call line must be not so good so i did and he then says "wot ,K reg as in....." me> yeah 1971 , can you supply a starter please ? dude says he will call me back (that was Sat) i /we know they arer available , methinks fella maybe thought i was joking/winding him up /did not beleive people do keep/own vehicles of such "vintage"(thank goodness for GFS")

    if using a non specialist for parts on older cars i find out the part number 1st to save hassle, they ain't got a clue on older cars.
     
  3. ta 4 that mate , perhaps an expected question as my reply, "where u get the part no. >double interest being i was given a what looks like quality windscreen seal by po. and its got what looks like a part No. on it and i"m trying to cross ref. it before i remove me screen, (cos wouldn"t it be a bummer (funny?) , if once window was on the floor..... ta for any help.
