Likewise .In 1990 /91 I brought a 54 Barndoor (XXM 41) for £120 and sold it for £1000 and was really chuffed .
And what is it worth now?..... Perhaps it's time to buy my dream 80's car, a mk1 Campaign Golf, before prices go up any further .
Imprezza have started to climb in price and retro Ford's always seem to command good money .I think the winning formula would be buy all the boy racer cars from Essex and stick them in a barn for 20 plus years and then sell them back to the original owners for a extortionate price.
By the same token , back in 77 ( I know some of you were not even born then) I bought a Lambretta TV200 for peanuts, sold it three years later for £250.00, whats that worth now.
Land rover in Farcebook market pace yesterday for £100. Sat in a hedge for years, ‘Seller needs gone’.
Get it bort - I think the 400 dates from 1991, but I wouldn't swear to it. It's designer Sam Alper is a hero - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sam_Alper
This thing is definitely 60s or 70s .I have brought a 80s Tercel 4wd from the owner of the caravan so when I eventually pick that up (May time ) I will get some pics of the caravan .
Because Tata stopped making the Defender that can be fixed with angle iron and sheet metal and repaced it with something anonymous and rubbish that a 4WD Toyota will out do in all respects.
The British are great at initially designing a vehicle but dire at developing it .Take the little mini !From day one it rusted , leaked and spewed out oil from the gearbox selector rod and when it finally got phased out years later all the problems were still there but the rust issue was even worse . Landrover look the part and for you average hill farmer they are probably indispensable but Toyota Landcruisers are by far a better vehicle .
I had an old working Lambretta given to me in '75ish. I hacked the bodywork off and a few off used to race it around the woods, when it broke down one day we dumped it in the chalk pit and walked home as it wasn't worth tuppence. Madness looking back
Ok Check inside under seats and cupboards, Any sign of damp is bad If the van has not moved for years might be problem, What happens is that the sealant usually dries out and when the van is moved it will lose its seal and crack open, It will probably need all weather joints re doing This is not too bigger job at the beginning, but if left and it got left and water gets in you just as well scrap it. Caravans hate water and damp inside Also a rusty chassis is bad and you should check/change tyres and brakes etc before you tow it anywhere , That said offer them a £100 Nipper
