Oil strainer gaskets do they need grease

  1. Hi do i need to put grease on my oil strainer gaskets will multi purpose coma grease be ok as thats what I have any help appreciated

    Just a smear to hold them in place.

    I've tried with and without, no difference.
     
  5. Previous owner used a tube of silicone. Maybe 2.

  6. Well, you don't want them to leak :thumbsup:
     
  7. ...and you don't want bits of silcone sealant getting into your engine either - so use sparingly.
     
  8. I just give them a smear of engine oil , works for me....

    Just make sure ALL the metal surface are spotless, then use them dry.
    Gently tighten the nuts opposite to each other. Torque the nuts appropriately. It’s a very low torque.
    Do all that and it won’t leak from there. And use a new Sump plug washer/ring/thing…:thumbsup:
