oil pressure gauge

  1. No, I didn't know that. The dual senders I've been looking at have the low pressure set to .25 bar whereas the standard pressure warning senders listed from JK etc are described as operating between 0.15-0.45 Bar. So I had assumed dual contact senders wouldn't be a problem. Single contact senders are a bit cheaper so I'll look into the possibility of using a T-piece as well. No rush. It's going to be a couple of weeks at least until I can get a gauge.

I used a stock switch alongside the electronic sender, as I didnt want to rely only on the electronic sender driving a relay to work the warning light (As I originally built the electronics) . I have the redundancy of both the switch and a separate gauge to indicate loss of pressure.

I have a suspicion that all the VDO gauges being sold were last manufactured some time ago.

  3. Stock switches I've had have been 0.15bar, presumably to accommodate the low pressures you might get on a hot aircooler.

On my bus, I ended up with a stock switch and single pressure sender, although if you've got decent oil pressure the dual units should be fine.

  4. The twin sender option does provide some redundancy if one goes bad. I see Demon Tweeks has a single contact VDO sender and also a correct tapered M10 T piece.
