Oil cooler tin question

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Van Halen, Sep 26, 2021.

  1. I've just dropped my engine and the oil cooler tin doesn't look particularly airtight as per the pics - does this look right? The triangle bit doesn't seem to extend all the way down the cooler but I'm not sure what it's supposed to look like . I've got new front engine tin to go on as it didn't have any originally. Don't mind buying new oil cooler tin if it's wrong at the mo.

    Cheers

  2. You’re missing two rubber seals that go on the two smaller pieces.

  4. Thanks guys. The triangle one is a really ******* poor fit. Quite big gaps all around. I'll take it apart and see why.

Ill also trial fit the missing front engine tin see how it all works together

The gaps should be more even - I think there is also edging missing on the far side of the top triangle bit against the fan housing , or it has twisted a bit .

  6. You're missing the foam strips under the triangle bit, and the two "exhaust pipe" seals...
