Suggest a modern phone that a dimbo like me can use. Ideally it needs to take pictures which i can post/share (this would help immensely with work),internet access, gps with regular problem ahead updates. Second hand is best, no contracts, sim only, my current flintstone type phone costs about £10.00 a month. One suggestion was a samsung s8, I dunno ??? As you can guess by the questions I,m not very "with it".Awaiting humourous answers from certain parties.
I too am a bit of a Luddite when it comes to phones but found the Android system on sumsung easier to use rather than Apple iphones . Think I've got an S8 at the moment - I'm sure a mate or family will have an older Samsung kicking around you could borrow or buy cheapo just to get your head around what you like or dislike about certain features . You can easily change phones and keep the same number, unlike the old days when the providers didn't like you changing networks and taking the number with you ... I'm on 3 with more texts data and call allowance than I need for about £27 per month. Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
You are having your pants pulled down or are paying for the phone through your contract. You should get pretty much unlimited everything for about 12quid a month or less. Whatever phone the OP chose, it will be cheaper to buy the phone outright and have a sim only type separate deal for the usage
Agreed ... The OP would be better off buying a cheapo recon one outright and select a network giving a good data and usage deal , mine is just easy with a new phone every couple of years , suited me at the time but probably not the best ... I like the Samsung mainly for the Google mapping and satnav which are brilliant compared to the Apple equivalent on lady Lastys which is pants in comparison... Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
You can't go wrong with a Moto G whatever is a few models old. Sim only deal or PAYG. I asked the boy and that's what he told me to get. Think it's a G5. Could be a bit big for some.
I’ve got one of these you can have for a mere £100 might struggle with internet, but that’s overrated anyway..
I always get a 2nd hand iPhone currently one is a 7 that I got for about £130 then a giffgaff SIM card £10 a month with more data than I use. Wife is on a old iPhone se with £5 giffgaff sim.
I have a Moto G4 (which I bought unlocked) and use a Tesco sim which has more calls, texts & data than I need, but I only pay £7.50 a month. Our (little) boy wanted to buy a phone of his own, so I managed to find him a second hand Moto G5 on ebay for £40 (including postage). He only has a sim ( no data etc) as he can do everything he wants to by just connecting to our WiFi. It's not like he can go anywhere at the moment. Good deals to be had on second hand handsets.
Being a bit of a phone whore in the past - not so much nowadays because they don’t change that much really. You will get the Android ( Samsung, Huawei, htc, one plus etc etc users swearing their phones are best . You will also get iPhone users saying the same ... they’re all as easy to use as the others once you get used to them ... personally I’m using a 2020 iPhone Se and it’s perfect - for me .. I do think apple (iOS) phones do what they say and do it quite well out of the box. Android based phones tend to be more ‘customisable ‘ and that’s where problems tend to stem from - sticking a dodgy memory hogging app on or someone chucking a cheap fake sd card in that’ll slow the phone down. I guess the only answer is to pick a phone based on what you will mainly look to use it for and also be aware if battery life and go with it - buy it used off contract and if you don’t like it - sell it and buy another
Yeah I hear good things about the new SE (I had an old one that was pretty good) - but I'd like it to be the size of a plank... that way I could actually read what it was telling me without having to search for my glasses!
Lol. It's just a wee bit bigger, but makes it surprisingly readable. I can actually see what Tomtom's telling me now! I can't stand phones that are like a big glass plank.
Gift gaff £10. Per month SIM only unlimited calls ,texts and 6 big internet things ,more than I would use
I always buy Android and never pay more than £120.00 usually last about 4 years before the battery keels over
It is a good phone , does everything I need from an iPhone without having to take out a mortgage for a flagship model
