  1. Arreton Classic Car show. Ideal Father's Day outing :)

Asked after Burntout but they said he wasn't there.

  2. Hope your having a great time! :D

We are going over at the end of the month. We are staying at Heathfield farm.

  3.
  4. Really enjoyed the show. Stopped off at St Catherine's point lighthouse on way to Grange Farm campsite. Now parked up about 20 feet from the cliff edge. Panoramic view of the sea.

Sitting with Cidre in hand watching the rain roll in!

The knocking appeared again today. Waggling drive shafts back and forth stopped it again
Don't know much about the drive shafts (yet). They seem to float. i.e have a gap at either end, the gaiters keeping them central. The offside one sits nearer the hub end. It seems to be this that is knocking. If I move the shaft and tap it against the hub end Lorna says it produces the same knocking sound inside the van. Not sure why it would knock rhythmicly and stop when clutch depressed though.

Or is my theory rubbish and I am on completely the wrong track?

  5. Theory sounds quite logical, sounds like your cv joint is wore up, or at least well worn, if you want to drop it round more than happy to put it on the bench and get it so you can get home, or we can always rob one of Noah for you to get home with and you post it back once you have managed to get it sorted.

If you would like us to do this just give us a ring/text. We are based central of the Island and have some fantastic walks around us if you want something to do while its done and as to that cider drinking watching the rain come in - wow - love it when your in the van and can do something like that. We often walk that way so can picture it more than we should be right now!

    :)

  7. Oh :( is a worn C.V. Joint likely to fail suddenly?

You are a real star with all these offers of help.

  8. Rained hard all night, now this..

  10. Not serious, if you leave it, it should do hundreds of miles or you can take it off, clean it and repack it with grease, and it should go on for years unless you've got 150bhp hidden in the back and spend more time racing than plodding round

Wasn't trying to scare you, just offer help if needed/wanted ;) If your worried drop in and we can have a look, pack it with grease and make sure you get home.

Thank you for the Karma folks, always happy to help out, its what the scene used to be all about ;D You never know one day we will be 400 mile from home and need a fan belt, spanner and a friend

When I first got into dubs in the late 90's you would never be sat on the side of the road for long before a complete stranger stopped and gave you a spare part or a tow into the services. I've received this and equally given what I could to help people I didn't know and in some cases have never seen again. Every body is to scared to help these days

  11. Thanks for the offer, think I'll leave it for now and potter. Sort out when I get home before Camper Jam in a couple weeks. Will send you some K+ when I get on web. Tapatalk doesn't seem to have that function.

  12. What a wonderful day today. 7.5 hour walk from Grange Farm along the coast to Freshwater Bay. Then back over the hills. Awesome panoramic views from the top. All the way round from Portsmouth with the south downs behind to Swanage and the Purbeck Hills. Great view of most of the west of the Island too. Sunny and warm with a light breeze.

I recommend the Isle of Wight to you all. It is a beautiful friendly place. Public transport excellent, footpaths well signposted. With the added bonus of very helpful VW folk :)

  13. Fantastic! And what a superb day for the walk! Glad you are enjoying it here! We love it! :)

As to the karma, don't worry about that, we offered our services as we wanted to ensure you got to enjoy your holiday in Flo! ;) And wouldn't want any fellow Late Bayer to feel stranded over here!

  14. Broke down on way to Cowes today. Engine faltered a few times, stoipped for fuel, faltered and died leaving the forecourt. Wouldn't restart. Checking to see if there was a spark I found number 4 cylinder HT lead broken. OK I might have broken it I guess.

Found the main HT lead from the coil wasn't pushed into coil fully so thought that was the problem.

Back to the garage to see if they had a new lead but they didn't, luckily the Mazda dealership next door found one the right length.

Fitted it and it started. Jumped in the cab, it died. Tried a few times then it started and died.

    Scratched head a bit.

Started it, jumped around in seat a bit, it died.

    Eureka moment.

Started. Fiddled with cables under ignition switch it died.

Gave them a good shove upwards and it has run fine since :)

Guess I disturbed the connector when I changed the screen washer pipes.

Roadside skills seem to be improving. Didn't get to the point of thinking about calling the RAC this time.

Helpful Mazda dealership was at Northwood between Newport and Cowes.

Not impressed with quality of lead set I bought from JK. Any recommendations of decent leads?

  15. Well done, good job your on the move again. Hope you've not been caught up in all this festival traffic. We won't be heading that side of newport till at least tue unless we have to, or you brake down ;)

How much longer are you over here?

We thought we saw you just round the corner from our place the other day so stopped jumped out of the truck and started walking towards the bus, 3 steps later, i realised it was a 68 prototype so i got back in the truck saying to Mrs B "Its not them its a early" and drove off much to the confusion of the grey haired gent who was in it with his wife. It was the right colour tho and a tidy bus 8) :laugh2:

  16. Last full day today, ferry from East Cowes 12.30 tomorrow.

going to Alum Bay today. Guessing the chairlift will be closed due to the high winds.

  17. Have a safe journey home! ;D

  18. Thanks.

Lovely walk to the needles and back over Headon Warren. Stunning. Very windy but some brave souls were using the chairlift to Alum Bay.

Good meal in pub right next to Stoats Farm. Now snug as a bug in a dub for last night on the island. Back to reality tomorrow.

Fingers crossed for event free trip!

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

What a nice thread. :) I'd have gone for the grease packing help offer...

  20. Made it home OK.

Since filling up with cheap fuel at Tesco (129.9/L !!) she hasn't liked idling when hot though. Mostly motorway on the way home though so not much.

By the time we got home we had reached the milestone of 2000 miles since buying her in October 2011 ;D

A great holiday in a fantastic location and we found we love camping in a van!

The funniest bit was arriving at the first campsite, parking, setup table and chairs, then sitting eating lunch within 5 minutes of arriving while watching the tents and caravans fiddling about for ages setting up >:D
