Odd PayPal email

  1. I sold an iPad on eBay today.

Buyer has just paid for it and I have got this email.

First time I've EVER received an email like this. It looks legit and I'm sure it is. Just makes me nervous of never getting the money!

Is this what happens when you choose "pay after delivery" on PayPal?

  2. Not sure on that one, I personally would tell them to stick it and cancel the transaction. Paypal is always on the buyers side.

Ring them and ask them why its going to take 21 days to clear.

Paypal can sometimes be helpful when you ring them!

  4. My ten penneth...I've bought and sold loads of stuff on ebay. Never seen a message like this before. I would not answer it directly.
It does say "The money is in your pending balance and typically available 21 days from the payment date"
I would contact the buyer and inform them that you have been informed by ebay/paypal that payment will take 21 days to clear and therefore their item will be sent when the payment has cleared.. In 21 days time.

  5. Have you logged into your paypal (not through any links) and checked the payment is there ?

    Scam scammedy scam scam.
I'd bin the transaction off personally.

  7. It's not your normal scam though. If it even is one.
Payment is showing in my Paypal account.
And, email was addressed to me personally.

    I can't wait 21 days as 1) That'll ******* the buyer off. 2) It pretty much says I won't be paid until it's sent.

I have messaged Paypal (I want everything in writing) so I will see what they say.

Buyer also wants iPad sent to a different address ("parent's address") so I have asked Paypal on their view re this.

Paypals party trick is instant payment, there is no reason for a 21 day delay.

No payment in account, no iPad sent.

  10. Ive sold a few things, off lesser value mind, and had the same. I have also seen this as a buyer. It seems to be a new things Paypal are doing.

    I'd bin off PayPal then!
Why should they get to keep your money for 21 days?
    Sod that.

  12. It's for buyer and seller security of course! Well, Im sure thats what they would say.....

  13. I don't think it's a scam, but the 'pay after delivery' mentioned before but I would cancel dale anyway just incase they don't pay!

  14. ^this. Check it by logging into PayPal directly. You'll likely have a message there saying the same.

Plenty of scam emails around, but sometimes they are genuine.

  15. Same email/message is in there.

I've done a bit more digging which says I will be paid within 3 days of logging a tracking number on there. Although not ideal, 3 days is better than 21!!!

It might well be genuine, I'd still bin it off though. 3 weeks? If you post it it'll be there in a couple of days!

I had the same issue but I was the buyer, @1973daisey turned out to be the seller but thought he was being scammed,
