So went to pick my lad up from school in the bus and parked in the council run car park which now has number plate recognition system in place. Registration was not recognised And had to get out Walk round to r/h side and manually input reg to get thru barrier. Probably due to the fact I’ve got slightly smaller square American sized plates front and back which I slapped on (from e bay with no paperwork required as “show” plates) So 2 questions...... anyone else have problems with classic plates and vehicle recognition systems. And 2 where’s best to buy classic plates as I don’t really wanna send v5 to some stranger on e bay!
I've heard, and I dont know how true this is, that ANPR can't read Black and silver plates...? I know that when I put my bus reg into euro car parts or the like, it doesn't recognise it?
There is a car park in Southport that doesn't recognise the classic black/silver ones - I know this for certain as 5 of our MG club went in it and without realising didn't pay and display - 3 got fined - the 2 with classic plates escaped!
I got a new license plate from the Florida dmv around 2005 . That had the the letters... MILF-## for my motorbike. Took me a good half hour to explain the the lady manager what it meant and how it was a bit sexist . Until she looked it up online ....she gave me a different one . (Should of kept it though)
You need a rotating plate operated by a switch on your dash (placed between the oil slick and missiles buttons).
Nah, it's a Dormobile. They decided against fitting one in case someone sued them for getting a flying dual ring cooker in the head.
Devon used to do an ejection seat with their conversions. Well, not really an ejection seat: it just used to fall off after a few weeks. They fixed it it in later models by using bigger nails.
You need a button for oilslick?.. thought that was activated on ignition.. more switches needed Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
You should be able to just scan/take a photo of your documents and email that to whoever's making your plates. Funnily enough, I've been considering getting into doing pressed plates if I sell one of the buses... so, if you fancy buying a nice solid project for 5½k, I'll chuck in two free sets of plates. Bargain!
Most systems won't recognise the suffix type registrations so the style of plates will be irrelevant. If I ever need number plates I buy them on Ebay as show plates, no documentation needed.
I agree. My plates are standard modern plastic jobbies but car parks don’t recognise the number. You can drive off for free or manually type in how long you stayed. Depends how honest you feel at the time.
Not very I'm afraid, given the fact that most of the car parks I use are extortionate and it feels good to get the odd free one
