  1. We are having some work on the house so I had to move my 71 Beetle delux out of harms way yesterday.

Tax disc is November 1990, last time I used it.
The air in the tyres is still from 1986 when purchased and never went down much (teeny weeny bit).
Who says black alloys are a modern phase, I got those black Empi 8 spokes way back when! The rims need a polish but engine fired up on the button as usual but needs a tune up. I had to give it a little colonic irrigation (gunk in the fuel lines) but it all works and I just need to respray it and refit some parts fix the brakes now they are useless and back to happy motoring!
So that will take another 20 years no doubt !o_O

  4. I have been through Divorce, redundancy and 3 house moves , never letting my baby go, its going with me at the end( they will need a big grave for us both!) Its my second ever car first one a beetle naturally was written offby a muppet in a Sierra, then I found this one and its been the best one ever. Never let me down, will cruise happily at 70 on the motorway and still has the VW inspection marks on the floor when I chipped the underseal off! It will get its day again , I would sell the Bay before I sold this. Sad I know ...
I still have a 1990 newspaper in there I was using to mask off the inner sill when touching it in?
Hot Willies was a play on Fat willies yes in its day!:rolleyes:

  5. I felt the same about my 1990 mk1 cabrio before I got the bus, really wish I hadn't sold that! It was my old faithful! drove to Germany and back in it never missed a beat, it was a real head turner and I would have it back in a heart beat! never let it go! the bus is very quickly winning my heart too! think they all do eventually!

  6. Any photos? Or will that make you sad ? I know some of them are just that little bit special , they will be a bit rough around the edges but like a trusty dog, they earn your long term trust! Mad really they are just metal boxes.

  8. Very nice no wonder you regret letting it go?
I sold my 1958 Wolseley 15/50 to buy a 1991 Cavalier! What a mistake! The wolseley was rough looking but super reliable, when it rained mushrooms grew in the carpet at the back. The only day it didn't want to start was when the guy came to tow it as part ex for the Cavalier!
Miss it loads but our Moggy Minor smells the same inside so reminds me everytime I drive it!
    Happy days...
