Nicks daft questions part 6 - wiring the carburetors - and lets not forget oil switch feed?

  1. Most circuit diagrams seem to cover fuel injection and I cant easily find the carb details - its seems the black feed to the heater motor also powers the coil and the carb solenoids and I guess the cut off valves too?

1979 Type 4 engine twin Solex carbs - RHS one has two connections and the LHS has three.

There is also a valve on the vacuum circuit but what wire goes there - I have two groups of wires in an 'Al Scofield' image_67236353.JPG image_67238657.JPG harness without a home. Three wires including blue, black and grey/green together on one spur and then six wires without any connectors which are black/white + blue/white + black/green + black/red + grey + black which I assume are for a diagnostic plug? Weirdly I dont have a blue/black wire in the loom but I do have a blue and green wire with a narrow connector which just so happens to pop up at the dash for the oil light all other lights now wired? There is no blue green wire in the loom at the engine? Anyone have a suggestion?

My question is are the three wires for the carb set up? Note I have wired the blue "alt charging" light up which is a different wire.

  2. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

I've always seen the carbs wired in one black daisy chain from the coil or you could do 2 - one for each carb.
