Just FYI.. the NHS is preparing to make "anonymised" but potentially individually identifiable personal health data available to third parties.

If you want to opt out its not long to go.

Do with this what you like. Hassle your MP maybe..whatever.

I don’t like something like this going on behind the scenes without being told directly about it and being able to make the choice .
We shouldn’t have to rely on word of mouth for such things , thanks Mike , I’ve made my choice now

Thanks Mike, what annoys me most here is the implied consent, well they can get *****ed. A stalwart of medical records is they should be confidential. I doubt this will be the case once the data is sold to Matt Hancock’s mates, the FT articles says not all data will be anonimised, it’s a another scandal waiting to happen.

It saddens me that I have to stop being a 'good' citizen sharing, anonymously, my data for the greater good because it might be sold off without my explicit permission. But so be it, I've gone in any changed my preference on the NHS app.

    Thanks Mike

  8. Anyone who has done that 23 and me DNA thing,
I Expect insurance and drug companies have had a good nosey at that ;)

  9. The NHS patient data set is one of the most sought after in the world for complete, varied, in depth and cradle to grave coverage. Two points that the set could be used to do alot of good, particularity with research charities etc but also is worth alot to bring in funding for the NHS.

If its anonymous, is this a bad thing?

If it was anonymous I agree. I've only just changed my settings because if the data has the possibility of data mining down to individuals and it is shared with private concerns, their track record of missuse of data is there.

  11. Really appreciate the heads-up Mike and handed in opt-outs this morning for Mrs C, my two sons and myself. Even then the surgery tried to dissuade me from doing so. Cheers and see you at T/e. Phil

  12. Ooh your luck over there, in Ireland hackers got all of ours, even after the upgrade from "password" to "Password123"
