New speedo cable - oil?

Should I put some oil down a new speedo cable?

I have fitted it and it is a bit twitchy on the speedo, it is a nice smooth run with no kinks or sharp bends.

 

I didn't oil mine, but if had twitched I would have.

No. The cable will pump the oil up into the speedo. Just route it without kinks.
