New roof lining

  1. I'm looking to strip out the contents of my van ready for its new interior. To fit the interior They need to have doors, floors and walls in ply plus also a roof lining.

For the roof I was thinking of some thin ply so I can fit recessed lights and either cover with a material of wife's choice or just lightly varnish. Either way I think it needs to be finished before interior units go in. I suspect it would be difficult to change this after. Not like changing door cards.

Is this type of roof lining difficult to do? Are there better alternatives, bearing in mind I want recessed led lights?

As always your help is appreciated.

  2. If you can get yourself a template or buy it precut, I'd say its the easiest option.

I've seen them installed by means of some J shaped trim on either side which the board sits in or screwed directly to the metal work.

It will have to be 2 or 3 parts, and if you go with ply make sure it is thin enough or heated as it can split when bent.
