Dear All I haven't owned a bay since the early 80's ( cost £800.00 DLR 113J ) so it is somewhat of a shock to see how much one is going to cost me now, I have looked at hundreds on the web cant seem to find the right on though, have read a lot of posts from this forum and it is very interesting hope I can get some advice from it in the future. In the meantime any opinions about this bus http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261149975944?_trksid=p5197.c0.m619 It looks fantastic but it is so expensive ! Trevor
Welcome to the forum Trevor - enjoy your stay! The bus in the link looks very very nice but imo its expensive & I think you would find a van equally as nice if you bide your time. It all depends what you are looking for, resto or restored?
Welcome That's a lovely van but just as lovely as others on here... too expensive imo... Have a good look about Shame you didn't keep your original one... bet you wish you had now x
Thanks for the replies, the last bay I owned I complete refitted and put a pop top in myself, all on the street, which attracted some interest from passers by, sadly I am now way too busy to consider a restoration job, (I restore antiquarian books for a living) and now all the children have flown the nest, my wife and I want to spent our spare time enjoying the countryside in a bay. So it needs to be restored, right hand drive, could be an early, if the right one came up, cant be doing with any rust problems though so needs to have had a full strip down respray. I dont regret selling the old bus, ( actually we had two ) one was N reg but a rust bucket then, it just was not the right vehicle at the time, whereas now it is, we are already planning trips, just need the bus ! Best Trevor
Welcome along. You'll get all the help you need on here. It does look a nice van but that is a lot of money
Hi and welcome Trevor. As others have said yes it is a bit expensive but does reflect the current market and if you had to pay someone to restore one you would eventually spend that sort of money. Have a look at importing one as that is likely to be a cheaper rust free option.
Dear All Thanks for all your replies I can see I will be using this forum a lot in the future, I am thinking of visiting the VW fair in Telford on Sunday, does anyone know if there will be vans for sale there ? I will also look out some photos of the last buses we owned, I forgot my wife and I travelled to our wedding in a bay and then honeymooned all round Wales in it ! Best Trevor
Welcome aboard. If you are patient (or very lucky) you will get a bargain but I reckon you will be paying £15k and up for one that does not need anything done to it. Especially as we are now going to come to the beginning of the season and the shows.
