Hi, I'm new to this, I am someone who has always thought about getting a VW Camper looked and researched over the years but never committed. So now I'm in my mid 40's I have decided its time, I'm looking for a VW Camper not as a project, I would prefer a ride that I can jump in and drive off. This is for me and my family, wife, 2 daughters and a labradoodle. Anyone out there selling please drop me a line.
Good luck mate , have you tried the for sale section on this site ,its very good and has some decent vans at the right money
Welcome to TLB, theres seems to be quite a few bays at reasonable money at the moment, though Caveat emptor applies when looking on ebay!
Hi NobbyG Good luck with the search. I too have decided to take the plunge before the family gets too old (and us - mid 40s), so we could be competing for the same buses ! I'll try and keep my eye open for your posts to see how you are getting on. Lofty
Hi chap - or chaps! As a mid-life thing a Bus is preferrable to a harley any day and you can have more friends and include your family. Wish I could start again to get a bit more enthusiasm out of the family!
wickford is not too far away from me - I'm in Rainham and often take the A130 to the A12 to avoid the M25. good luck with the hunt- theres plenty of good advice on TLB. dont be rushed into buying a van. As has been said many a time -if it seems too good to be true it, it probably is.
Hello and Welcome from The Colonial Contingent You will find the "right" bus, it just takes time & patience, sometimes the "right" bus finds you.
Hello & welcome. Take your time to look at a few buses. I looked at loads of supposedly rust free ones when I was searching 3 yrs ago. The one I got (and could afford on the budget) still had a number of mechanical issues, but was more solid underneath than most. Good luck
Hiya Nobby. Take a magnet with you when you go to view a van...magnets don't stick to filler Also think about a tax exempt bus if you need to keep the running costs down. It will save you £220 a year. If you don't mind paying the tax, there are some great solid, value for money campers out there that have been imported from the States. Usually late 1970's westy with full interiors, water tanks and heaters. Depends how you want to use your van and how much interior space you need. With young kids I would go for a poptop of some description with roof bunks for the young 'uns. Anyway, good luck with the search and ask on here for advice before you commit
Hi Nobby! There's a gorgeous looking bus right over the road - please apologise to your wife on my behalf for re-igniting your VW passions! Anything I can do just say the word. Like I emailed you - John at 81a in Birkdale is a wizz and can help you with anything that may need doing. Even if you get a daily runner it would be wise to send it into him for the once over. I'm sure Wilma's owners will agree with me (he's kept Wilma on the road for yrs). Cheers Pal!
