  1. time for a little rant im afraid...

i wanted a little run around on the cheap, so bought a civic off a mate a few months ago..
was sent a few pics, and it looked exactly what i was looking for.
and for 300quid, happy days i thought.
had a lot on so asked if it was okay to stay where it was for a bit, and was given a 'no problem'..
mate said all i needed to do was put new front hubs on it, that were in the car. simple, yeah?
finally got down to devon to pick it up this weekend..

turns out the car wasnt at his, it was in someone else yard,
who had been pestering him to move it since christmas and was on the verge of scrapping it.
so i was on the blunt end of his mood when i got there to find there wasnt any hubs with it.
nor any front suspension whatsoever. or driveshafts. or lower arms. or wheels.
it was sat on 2 axle stands at the front, and 2 steels at the back. which had crushed the exhaust.
also, the window had been left fully open since christmas, so the interior was f***ed.
and full of water. and it had a shattered windscreen. so the guy that owns the yard said if i paid his diesel he would take it to that scrappers for me. how nice of him.
so naturally, that debt has been passed on to the person who left it there.

was in mid-convo with this 'mate' when i told him i was halfway through an excessively priced train journey down to pick it up,
when it just so happened that the minute after i sent that message, his phone got cut off.
    yeah, how wonderfully coincidental..

needless to say, i havent had the best weekend. and to top it off, last night i arranged to get a lift home with a different mate so i could take home the massive toolbox id previously left down here.
time came and went she was supposed to pick me up, i ask whats going on, and 'her tax has run out'.
and im guessing the pictures on facebook of her absolutely s**tfaced last night had nothing to do with that...
so another horrendously priced train home for me. without my toolbox.
    best. easter. ever.

    anyways, sorry for the rant..
hope all you lovely people are having a much better time!!

  11. yeah, thats what i thought!! Ive just given up on pretty much everyone from torbay now..
have got screwed over by loads of the people down here.
like the douche that runs Southern Old Skool, (big car club down here)
i do all the bodywork on his mk1 fiesta for no money, it gets featured in 2 mags,
i do all the bodywork on his chevette for no money, he breaks into my garage and steals my wheels as a thank you.

all i ever try and do is help and be nice, and constantly get screwed over for it.
the best thing i ever did is move to bristol!! havent encountered any of this crap while ive been up there..

moral of the story? people from torbay suck.
(p.s. no offense if any of you are from here, but judging by the amount of bays i saw in my 20 years living here, i highly doubt you are..)

  12. Nicking your wheels out of the shed is bang out of order. Sounds like a rubbish weekend.

Hopefully getting your bus back will cheer you up.

  13. Awwww boo... Sounds like no fun at all for you... :( hope you get in touch with this.'mate' if you've given him .th 300 quid!! Hope the rest of the week is better for you x

  14. Bad times fella, looks like you're better off in Brizzle :)
A recent poll stated that Bristolians are the nicest people in the country!

It was a small poll mind you with only me taking part it it. :)

That is a bad experience. I feel your pain. I bought an Alfasud of a friend that fell apart. Caveat emptor.

I'd but a car off a friend again. Indeed I did with the old GTi. Regardless of friends or not, anyone needs to look over a prospective purchase first.

  19. sounds a bit extreme, but i would be livid if i found out a so called friend stole something from me, for one thing they would deffo not be my friend,
i always believe its take noothing to be polite, and lend a hand when its needed, But some people just take the wee.

  20. I would also say don't sell a car to a mate. I sold my old Volvo V70 to a friend and it developed an engine fault within days. I split the cost of the repair with him as a) he is a mate and b) he still is a mate.
