We have a 73 Westy with no real heating system (unless you count the engine heat when travelling). Off to Brighton Breeze in a couple of weeks and want to buy a small portable heater that we can connect through the electric hook up. After browsing the web, there are so many options. And I want to make sure we get something that is sensible for the space requiring heating plus something that is safe. Have looked at the small halogen heaters but think we could do with some advice. Does anyone has any suggestions?
I have this and it is magnificent http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4150963/Trail/searchtext%3EFAN+HEATER.htm We camp throughout the year and it even does the trick in warming the awning up too ;D
not really a suggestion... .but i have one of these that i removed from our dandy camper b4 i sold it, there to good to let go.. 8) mines been reconditioned tested and works a treat you can leave it on all nite on low or while your out, its a balanced flue and gives out a great heat runs from your gas bottle, im fittin it in the bus next year when ive sorted the furniture and flooring well worth buyin if it stays cheap enough... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RAPIDO-FOLDING-CARAVAN-SPARE-PARTS-UNDERFLOOR-HEATER-RIVIERA-GAS-/120989129622?pt=UK_Campervan_Caravan_Accessories&hash=item1c2b839b96#ht_561wt_1380
i would go for a non oil filled rad that wont make any noise: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4152686.htm a bit more pricey
I went for one of these from B&Q This is a dual range fan heater which draws either 900 or 1800 watts. This can be critical as some hook ups will only give you a 4 or 5 amp supply, and you'd trip out the system if you overloaded it. I've camped in March and it's very effective on the low range and extreme toast on the upper.
we also had a small 500w green house heater from b&q, for when we had a hook up ,just a background heat... the advantage is you can leave it on all nite , as it doesn't make a noise or dry the air out like a fan heater... 8) similar ... http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B006MGEUTS/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=103612307&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B002U716M2&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_r=1080BVNHS792E54DGZA2
I've got a coleman blackcat propane heater, portable use in awning or van and no hookup required The gas can be a bit hard to find so I bought a bulk lot off ebay. runs for 7 hours on high setting on one cylinder The instructions say not to use in enclosed spaces, but as they are catalytic they do not produce carbon monoxide, but you should have a small amount of ventilation to keep oxygen levels up. My badly fitting doors are adequate for this purpose. I also have a carbon monoxide detector. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Coleman-Blackcat-Propane-Catalytic-Heater/dp/B001P80GHI
I go winter camping all the time and use one of those electric bar heaters ,it has a cut off switch if its not upright and heats up the van the fantasticaly ,the problem I found with fan heaters is that they make the van too stuffy. this is the one I use http://www.amazon.co.uk/Halogen-Heater-Electric-1200-Portable/dp/B002S2ODBK/ref=sr_1_1?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1348653955&sr=1-1
We have a 450w oil filled radiator from argos and apropex HS2000 for when there is no hook up. The oil filled radiator is brilliant. http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4152291/Trail/searchtext%3ERADIATOR.htm
jeez that caravan heater went for £207.... i paid less than £40 for mine about 5 years ago ... 8) im glad i removed it from the trailer tent to put in the bay :smiley_dog_kiss:
here ya go the inlet/exhaust box is 6'' wide 5.5 '' high 4'' deep the hot gass comes out of the top, and the cold air enters through the bottom, ive added a divider in the center to keep them seperate
