National shortage of starter motors

Whats going on?!?

Phoned the big 3 over the weekend to get a starter - No, 3 weeks and sometime in June

Phoned 2 semi local Dub places, helpful, but sadly no secondhanders lying around

Tried the big national scrappy dealers - NO NO NO


Phoned eurocar parts


RESULT

"yes! It'll be here Tuesday"

Got it tonight, it's shiny, it's new, and £64 + VAT and even better no exchange needed ;D

i think there s a shortage of a lot things at the moment door rubbers being another thing i ve heard of

I think the 1800 and 2ltr are the same don't quote me! Could be wrong

 

Does no one sell rebuild kits for starter motors nowadays?

 

You can always get your old one referbed if you can't get one.

The golf one has a bearing inside for supporting the pinion gear, so doesn't need the shaft for support.
